Well, we got the house refinanced, I graduated from Doane, and most all is right with the world. Our Disney trip was fun, though it was probably more so for Kolette-I was kind of a grump for part of it, it was really hot, and the kids, by day three, probably would have been just as happy staying in the room. As it was, we have noted for next time to get a separate room, or some sort of adjoining setup if we go again. We basically had no privacy or time away from the kids for 8 days.....24-7. Wow.
I got my BS from Doane in Information Systems Management. Yea, me. I DID get a small raise at work, not much, but they are re-tooling how salary is calculated based on tasks and knowledge, and since they have never really had a system in place to gauge that it's taking some time to get there. There will be lots of testing modules over our new software package, but there is some financial gain involved, and the levels attained on those modules will figure into salary levels in the future as well.
Other than that, not a lot going on-I don't mow as often as I should, our new mayor it tiptoeing around a 1 cent tax increase and getting pilloried for it (unfortunately-1 cent raise after cutting for years, not that bad-it won't make up the shortfal). Lincoln only gets .14 cents out of every dollar-Lincoln Public Schools gets .63-WTF? They are always building, and have money to spend, but always want more. Little of it goes to the teachers, but our District Super gets 200,000 a year. " But we have to pay to get good people......." Well, if Lincoln, NE would stop comparing itself to Omaha, KC, or New York, that would be a start.
Omaha wants to ban Pit Bulls. Another NE town, Osceola has done so, and gave all 1 of the owners in town 48 hours to get rid of their animals, even though the dogs have never hurt anyone. Lots of citation of a study over 20 years showing Pit Bull Terriers and Rotts are Evil! but that study lists 238 fatalities over 20 years over all breeds studied in the US-hardly an epidemic. There have been two bites in the last few weeks in Omaha, but little real press about whether or not the owners were irresponsible, or the kids were messing with the dogs. Sorry, folks, if your kid messes with the dog in their yard, or is a stranger stickig their hand or whatever through the fence-tough shit. Teach your kids manners so the animal doesn't have to.
Okay, im done for now. Kols birthday is in Aug, our 10th anniversary is on 31OCT-info going out about those soon.
