This book looks awesome! I should forward it to Dr. Dickerson at Doane ( Instructor of Technology and Philosophy)-it looks right up his ally.
A man with Alheimers has his brain 'fixed' and now must catch up to the world where computers are wearable, contact lenses generate terrain overlay mapping in real time and people can message with speed and so streamlined that it could be telepethy.
Vinge is a computer scientist, so he writes Hard Sci fi-it may get a little deep. This also led me to another author, Peter F. Hamilton (Reality Dysfunction series) that seems to be in the same vein. Off to B/N!
